The family of a little girl hit by a car on the Gold Coast have shared heartbreaking news of her death just days out from Christmas.
Luna Matenga, 3, was walking across Goldmine Road at Ormeau in between two parked vehicles on Saturday morning and was hit by a Toyota Corolla.
A nurse on the scene performed CPR and Luna was rushed to hospital in a stable but critical condition.
On Monday, her mum Jessica Feeney wrote on Facebook doctors were trying to determine if Luna had suffered a spinal injury.
She also asked for people to “keep praying”.
“We are not giving up or leaving her side,” Ms Feeney wrote.
“Positive prayers and energy will send waves to her.”
On Wednesday, Ms Feeney wrote a devastating update sharing the heartbreaking news that her little girl had died.
“With the heaviest of hearts, I want to thank every single person for their prayers and positive vibes for my baby girl,” Ms Feeney wrote.
“She felt it, we felt it, unfortunately at 9.03pm on the 22nd of December we let our beautiful baby girl go, surrounded by her family in the arms of her mummy and daddy!” she wrote.
“Our hearts are completely broken. Fly high my gorgeous blue eyed, red headed unicorn! Ride those dragons baby. Until we meet again!”
Police are still investigating the crash.
