Commuters have been warned to expect major delays across metro train lines due to signal control issues.

Melbourne’s train network came to a halt just before 6am on Thursday because of a loss of signalling control.

“All trains will remain at platforms until further notice,” the service wrote on X.

“Select services may terminate/originate at intermediate locations. ”

While the issue has been resolved, knock-on effects remain in place.

Commuters were warned that there were delays of up to 30 minutes and to allow for extra travel time.

Trains may be less frequent than normal, and that stopping patterns may change at short notice.
