Comic Relief And Children In Need Team Up For New TV Event To Celebrate UK's 'Resilience'
BBC charities Comic Relief and Children In Need have teamed up for the first time to put together a one-off event being billed as The Big Night In.
Airing on BBC One later this month, the special night of entertainment will “offer some light relief and entertainment” while the country is on lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The BBC has said the live event will “feature some of the country’s favourite famous faces” who will be “trying to support, entertain, cheer up and help out anyone who needs any or all of those things”.
Viewers will also be encouraged to donate money to help those “of all ages and backgrounds across the UK” who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The BBC’s director of content, Charlotte Moore, has said: “BBC One will bring the nation together for this special one-off live charity event.
“I would like to thank both BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief for joining forces in these unprecedented times to provide their support to local charities, projects and programmes across the whole UK; and to all of the stars taking part in this unmissable night of entertainment when the country needs it most.”

As with usual Red Nose Day and Children In Need telethons, we should expect live performances (direct from the artists’ homes) and “big surprises”.
There’ll also be the chance to win “money can’t buy” prizes and a celebration of the “incredible community heroes” who have helped out during the crisis.
The Big Night In will air for three hours from 7pm on Thursday 23 April.
