Here comes the... tide: Wedding ceremony nearly ruined by freak wave
A couple’s dream wedding on the beach has taken an unfortunate turn after a freak wave soaked guests and sent people tumbling.
The pair were tying the knot at Sao Paulo’s iconic Camburi beach in Sao Sebastiao just metres from the ocean on Saturday.
And while the bride and groom were anticipating the ocean lapping at their feet by going barefoot, they weren’t expecting a huge current that nearly ruined their big day.
Footage from the ceremony shows a photographer and the host being knocked off their feet as the powerful wave approached.
The pair are submerged in the water before the wave drenches sitting guests amid panicked screams.
People frantically try and pull up the fallen pair as they look to resume the service.
And while the hiccup nearly made it a day to forget for the couple living in Sao Paulo, they groom took to social media to say it was “simply the perfect day”.
