Woman's warning after 'dangerous' find in Coles flour

A Coles shopper has posted a terrifying warning on Facebook after she says she found shards of glass inside a packet of flour.

“I found bits of glass in the Coles supermarket brand plain flour! Please ensure you’re sifting your flour,” the NSW woman wrote on the grocery giant’s Facebook page, sharing several photos and a video warning others about the glass.

In the video posted on Sunday morning, the woman asked people to “please share” the post and can be heard saying she was baking with the flour when she discovered the small shards.

“I was in the middle of making a carrot cake and I was sifting the flour and I found glass... like actual glass,” the shopper says as she picks up a shard and holds it to the camera.

“Can you see that? Found that in the flour and that’s the Coles brand plain flour, so just be careful,” she cautions.

The woman was so concerned she reached out to the supermarket three times on Facebook and said she had also tried calling their customer service line, but received no response.

“That is crazy! Imagine [if] you hadn’t of sifted that,” a person responded to the post.

“Thank God you were making a cake and sifted,” another wrote.

“That's so dangerous,” a third said.

Coles responded to the post on Sunday afternoon and said they were “very concerned” to see the photos.

“We hope you're okay and no one was injured,” a Coles representative wrote before asking the woman to contact them via private message with more details.

A Coles spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia the quality team was investigating the incident.

“We have responded to this customer and our quality team will investigate,” the spokesperson said.

“Coles encourages customers to bring back any product they are not happy with for a full refund.”
