Coles shopper's roast chicken hack praised on TikTok: 'Try this'

The humble BBQ roast chicken is a staple across the country for several reasons. At about $10, it's very affordable and is readily available from supermarkets such as Coles and Woolies.

Most importantly, it comes cooked and ready to pop right on the table or can be chopped up and added to salads, sandwiches or any dish that needs some protein, really.

But how do you go about pulling apart the roast chook quickly, easily and without making a mess — nor dirtying a single utensil?

TikTok user @brownsugar6764 has the solution which she demonstrated in a video that's racked up thousands of views.

In the clip, she's seen holding the chicken, which is still in the plastic bag it comes in, with both hands before using her fingers to roughly break the bird up into smaller pieces.

"One time my sister was preparing the food table and she randomly started doing this and I was like, 'Um, that is a brilliant idea'," @brownsugar6764 explained in the voiceover.

"It was quick, easy, no mess to clean up and saved a whole heap of time," she added.

She also advised covering the bag with a tea towel or a cloth if the chook is too hot to touch.

Her TikTok followers loved the hack, calling it 'cool' and a 'good idea'.

"Whaaaat I [was] now years old when I learned that," exclaimed one.

Meanwhile, a Coles supermarket worker has revealed a secret behind the iconic Hot Roast Chickens on TikTok.

Apparently, it all comes down to a generous sprinkle of “seasoning” on the raw chickens as they’re being prepared and then again before they are placed in the oven.

As to the exact ingredients in the seasoning, the worker kept mum.
