Coles introduces innovative $5 service for online shoppers

Time-poor shoppers from this afternoon will have the option to have their groceries loaded into their car just an hour and a half after they order them online in an Australian first initiative from Coles.

More than 400 Coles stores across the country have introduced the new Click & Collect service, promising customers a 90-minute turnaround on their orders.

The new feature, named Click & Collect Rapid, also provides shoppers with a broader range of items available for purchase that aren’t normally offered to Click & Collect or home delivery customers.

Among the items available to be packed with a Rapid order is a customer favourite – the hot roast chicken.

Using the quick feature will set shoppers back a flat fee of $5 and they must spend at least $30 on no more than 40 items.

Collection windows were set to open up to shoppers from 1pm AEDT on Thursday.

Coles ‘excited’ to launch new feature

Coles Online head of network development and customer delivery James Geddes said the service continues to grow in popularity.

“We’re excited to launch this offer for customers who are looking for a convenient and affordable shopping experience,” Mr Geddes said.

“The feedback from customers who used Click & Collect Rapid during our trial last year was overwhelmingly positive.

“It has proven particularly popular with customers who tend to have smaller baskets, and shop more frequently as they can place their order during the day and collect it on the way home.”

Coles also recently launched a three-month campaign to reduce the price of over 200 popular products across its stores.

Items including ice cream, fresh convenience foods, deli foods, beverages and pet food have already been reduced.
