Coles customer calls out 'disrespectful' trolley act: 'What a joke'

An angry Coles customer has taken to social media to draw attention to an ongoing issue with her local store’s trolley handling procedures.

The West Australian customer penned a Facebook post on Tuesday, calling out the South Hedland store’s alleged tendency to store discarded trolleys in disabled parking spaces.

“I am so sick and tired of being disrespected by Coles staff, this is a constant battle with the management and trolley handlers of Coles,” she said, sharing two photographs of trolley stacks across spaces designated for disabled drivers.

“Every time I complain, the manager ‘PROMISES’ it will never happen again. What a joke. This has been happening for over five years and nothing has changed.”

The customer concluded her post with a scathing assertion: “It is obvious that Coles do not care about disabled people.”

In her Facebook profile, the woman states that she is living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is associated with chronic pain, unstable joints and bruise-prone skin.

Other social media users have chimed in on the issue.

“Poor form indeed, don't they have trolley bays?” one person wrote in the post's comment section.

“That's atrocious behaviour from the manager, I hope corporate deal with them appropriately,” said another.

Coles 'disappointed' to learn of customer’s complaint

A Coles representative has responded to the woman’s post, promising to take action to ensure the trolleys are removed.

“We are disappointed to hear about your experience and we are very sorry for the inconvenience,” the representative wrote in one comment.

“We've now passed this info onto our Store Manager and Regional Manager to follow up with the team, and remind them of our courtesy expectations. We trust that you’ll notice an improvement moving forward,” the rep wrote in a second comment.

A Coles spokesperson has told Yahoo News that the trolley issue has been rectified.

“We work hard to ensure our stores and car parks are accessible and easy to shop,” the spokesperson said.

“We’ve spoken to our trolley collectors at South Hedland to make sure the correct procedures are followed moving forward.”
