Coles among 17 new Covid hotspots as lockdown begins

A busy shopping centre and its Coles supermarket has been listed as one of 17 locations visited by confirmed cases of coronavirus in recent days.

Several exposure sites have been revealed as Western Australia's Perth and Peel regions were thrust into another three-day snap lockdown overnight to curb further community transmission.

A man who arrived in Perth from Shanghai on April 3 spent 14 days in quarantine, but was then active in the community for five days before leaving for Melbourne, where he tested positive for Covid-19.

A case also visited Terry White Chemmart in Kardinya, southwest of the city, on Thursday between 7.10pm and 8.30pm, as well as the Sleat Road clinic of DB Dental in Applecross between 8am and 6pm.

WA's health department holds particular concern over the dining hall in the Heim building at St Catherine's on Park in Crawley, with anyone who visited between 12.01am on Sunday and 11.59pm on Wednesday urged to get tested.

The Southlands Shopping Centre, specifically Gilbert's Fresh Markets, Coles and BankWest, in Willeton, south of the city, was visited by a positive case on Wednesday between 3pm and 3.30pm.
