Code Orange ends at Summerside hospital after house fire

Occupants of a house fire were treated at Prince County Hospital Sunday morning.

The hospital in Summerside, P.E.I., declared a Code Orange at 6:40 a.m. It ended shortly before 1 p.m., according to Health P.E.I.

A Code Orange is called when an external disaster or threat is likely to require additional hospital resources. During a Code Orange, additional staff and protocols are activated to increase hospital capacity in order to respond to the event.

Five people or fewer were treated, Health P.E.I. said

The fire occurred on the Clermont Road near Indian River. The house was destroyed.
