Americans “like what they’re seeing” so far from Donald Trump based on the first approval polls, according to CNN data reporter Harry Enten.

Citing a new Reuters/Ipsos poll of U.S. adults undertaken during the first few days of Trump’s second administration, Enten noted that the president will end his first week in office with one of his highest-ever approval ratings, at 47 percent. That figure represents a net favorability rating of +6.

Trump began his first term at -3.

“That’s up nine points,” Enten added. “To borrow a Donald Trump phrase, this is big league!”

(Joe Biden, meanwhile, this month ended his presidency with an approval rating matching his lowest ever, at 36 percent, according to CNN.)

Trump’s first days in office have been marked by a consequential—and controversial—staffing decisions, legislative proposals and, of course, all sorts of other MAGA drama.

Among the most extreme developments has been Trump’s executive order that aims to end birthright citizenship for babies born on U.S. soil to undocumented immigrants and other non-citizens. The order has been temporarily blocked by a federal judge for violating the 14th Amendment. Trump has also previewed plans to deport undocumented immigrants en masse, with raids beginning this week in cities across the country.

Trump has drawn fire for his decision to offer a blanket pardon to nearly 1,500 people who faced charges related to storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, even those who assaulted police officers.

He has also seemingly renewed his attempts to take over Greenland.
