Clementi landslide: One park connector stretch will remain closed until end-2023
Three sections of the Ulu Pandan Park Connector have been opened since 20 February, one more to open this month
SINGAPORE — A 550-metre stretch of the Ulu Pandan Park Connector, which was closed after a landslide in September last year, will remain out of bounds to the public until the end of 2023.
The National Parks Board (NParks) said on its website that the stretch is along the south bank of Sungei Ulu Pandan near the land slip zone.
NParks added that three other sections of the park connector have already opened since 20 February, and one more stretch - the north bank near the land slip zone - will be open later this month.
The three opened sections are:
From Clementi Avenue 6 to Clementi Road;
From Boon Lay Way and Ayer Rajah Expressway to Commonwealth Avenue West flyover;
From Clementi Road to Commonwealth Avenue West (near Ghim Moh Road).
Repair works caused by Clementi Landslide to be completed by second half of 2023
The landslide had occurred at a nearly-completed Clementi NorthArc Build-to-Order (BTO) housing project along Sungei Ulu Pandan. A passer-by suffered minor injuries due to the incident.
The considerable amount of soil pushed into the Ulu Pandan Canal had caused flood concerns, while a portion of the park connector adjacent to the site was left cracked and damaged.
HDB said in December that repair works in the area were entering its third phase, which would be completed by the second half of this year.
As part of the final phase, which is now underway, HDB will restore the Ulu Pandan Canal, reinstate the damaged part of the park connector, and reconstruct the slopes and precincts within the BTO project.
Since mid-November, HDB has conducted soil-clearing operations and widened the canal back to its full surface width.
