Claire Taggart: Northern Ireland boccia competitor wins World Cup gold in Brazil
Northern Ireland's Claire Taggart clinched the women's singles BC2 gold medal for Great Britain at the Boccia World Cup in Fortaleza in Brazil.
The 28-year-old beat Indonesia's Gischa Zayana 3-1 in Wednesday's final which followed an earlier 8-1 semi-finals win over Slovakia's Eliska Jankechova.
The Larne competitor beat Zayana 4-3 in the group stage earlier this week.
Taggart competed at the Rio and Tokyo Paralympics in 2016 and 2021 and is aiming for next year's Paris Games.
The Larne woman won gold at the World Boccia Championships in Rio last year.
Her World Cup gold in Brazil follows her two medals at last month's European Para Championships in Rotterdam.
Taggart took bronze in the individual event in the Netherlands before helping Great Britain clinch a team silver.
