Circus performer falls 11 metres in front of horrified crowd

A circus performer suffered multiple injuries after plunging more than 10 metres from a trapeze in front of a horrified audience.

The 28-year-old entertainer had been performing in the Rio Circus tent in the beachside Adelaide suburb of Glenelg about 4.45pm (local time) on Tuesday.

South Australia Ambulance Service told Yahoo News Australia the woman was treated at the scene before being urgently transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

One witness told 10 News First Now the performer had not screamed as she fell.

“She just stopped and went ‘bang’ to the floor,” the witness said.

“My friends and I thought it was part of the act.”
