“The Color Purple” movie premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday showcased stars in shining looks, with many ensembles sampling from a purple color palette, of course.
Starring Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson and more, the film will be released on Dec. 25. Executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, the project is a musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s renowned 1982 book of the same name.

Leading the stars on the purple carpet was Ciara, who donned a white Georges Hobeika pantsuit with a long cape-train. Styled by Marni Senofonte, the singer’s outfit, which took a high-fashion spin on classic suiting, featured her baby bump adorned in gold foil flakes.
Here, a look at other stars’ fashion moments from the premiere.
Winfrey opted for a long-sleeve gown, accessorizing with pointed-toe lace heels along with jewelry by Anabela Chan, Kallati and Shy Creation. Working with stylist Annabelle Harron, the multihyphenate mogul has been embracing purple-themed outfits throughout the film’s press tour.
Halle Bailey made a voluminous arrival in a custom red Off-White gown with a ruffled tiered skirt and a criss-cross neckline. Bailey, who last starred as Ariel in Disney’s live-action rendition of “The Little Mermaid,” plays Nettie Harris in the upcoming film.
H.E.R., who also stars in the film, took an ombre theme on the purple aesthetic in a Pamella Roland dress. The silk chiffon frock, from the designer’s resort 2024 collection, featured draped off-the-shoulder detail and slight hip cutouts.
Andra Day brought textured-detail to the premiere, arriving in a purple ensemble from Rahul Mishra’s fall 2023 couture collection. The singer’s sparkling outfit featured a top mirroring a literal flower and sequin leggings.
