Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Donates $250,000 to Project Angel Food’s Fire Relief Fund
Project Angel Food has raised more than $500,000 since launching its Fire Relief Fund three days ago.
The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation contributed a $250,000 grant to the Los Angeles-based meal delivery service for critically ill residents. The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation is making $150,000 of its donation a “Match Grant” to encourage the public to donate to Project Angel Food’s vital work.

The foundation’s support comes after its $10 million donation last year for the construction of Project Angel Food’s new $51 million Hollywood campus.
Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS donated $50,000 to the Fire Relief Fund. United Talent Agency donated $25,000. A fundraising effort broadcast live with KTLA 5’s Megan Telles on KTLA Morning News helped raise $97,000 on Friday.
Annie Lennox, who also donated, will visit Project Angel Food’s kitchen Monday afternoon.
Project Angel Food also credits significant community support to Paris Hilton. After losing her Malibu home to the fires, she used her social media to amplify volunteer opportunities, more than doubling volunteer engagement compared to the entire previous year.
“It is at times like these we see humanity at its best,” Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub said Monday morning. “The support from volunteers and donors has been overwhelming in the best way possible. Our vulnerable neighbors need help, and L.A. is rising to the challenge. I encourage all people who want to give turn to respected charities, like Project Angel Food. Do your research on Charity Navigator to vet charities. I’m proud that Project Angel Food receives Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating.”
In response to the fires, Project Angel Food is now serving over 3,000 people daily, up from 2,700, to accommodate more individuals affected by the fires.
Other expanded services include:
Fresh daily meal deliveries have been introduced alongside regular weekly frozen meal distributions, particularly targeting clients in areas close to the active fire zones.
Emergency supplies such as non-perishable food packs, water, toiletries and gift cards for essential items are being distributed to those in immediate need.
Project Angel Food has also relaxed its qualification requirements temporarily to onboard individuals at risk due to the fires.
Project Angel Food continues to make daily wellness checks on clients in and around fire zones for emotional support and to connect them with services they might need.
