The arrest occurred after Young and his friends allegedly followed Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents from Tin Roof bar to DawgHouse, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

Per the affidavit, the musician conversed with the TABC agents checking the Tin Roof bar's ABC cards and filmed the moment. After the agents did a compliance check at DawgHouse and were looking to exit the location, Young was alleged to have reached out and "struck" one of them on the shoulder.

He was then alleged to have "began yelling and screaming," refusing to follow the directions of an agent speaking to him after the agent pushed him away.

PEOPLE obtained a video of moments before the arrest that contradicted some of the information. The video showed Young reaching out to the TABC agent, who reacted by shoving the musician, causing him to lose his footing and fall backward over a table and chair. The singer is then seen standing up, putting his hands up, and backing away. He's later shown calmly questioning the situation as he's arrested.

After the video's release, his attorney, Bill Ramsey, told PEOPLE in a statement, "What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong, and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place. In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional, and professional harm done towards my client."

Following Funk's announcement on Friday, Ramsey released a statement that read, "Mr. Young and I are gratified with the DA's decision clearing him of the charges and any wrong-doing."

Young's next album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, will be released on March 22.
