Chris Brown released without charge after arrest over rape allegations
Singer Chris Brown has been released without charge after being detained over rape allegations in Paris.
Brown and two other people were released on Tuesday evening (local time) in Paris after a woman filed a rape complaint with police.
The Grammy-winning singer was detained on Monday on potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions.
French prosecutors have told Seven News their investigation is ongoing despite his release.
Brown denies the allegations, and took to Instagram to comment.
“I want to make it perfectly clear – this is false,” he wrote.
“For my daughter and my family this is so disrespectful and is against my character and morals.”
He included a picture of the words, “this b**** lyin’” with the post.
Officials said one of the two people detained with Brown is his bodyguard.
Brown’s publicists at Sony Music would not immediately comment.
The singer has been in repeated legal trouble since pleading guilty to the felony assault in 2009 of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
He completed his probation in that case in 2015.
