China's Xi to attend APEC COVID meeting

China's President Xi Jinping will attend a special Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting via video on July 16, according to a statement on China's foreign ministry website.

New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will chair the informal meeting of leaders from APEC countries on Friday to focus on the COVID-19 pandemic, its economic effects and recovery.

US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have already confirmed they will attend the virtual meeting.
