Chilling request from homicide police ahead of rubbish bin collection day

Police are urgently asking residents in Brisbane’s inner north to check their bins for crucial evidence in a murder investigation.

Heartfelt tributes flowed online for 33-year-old Robert Frescon, described as a “kind and loving soul taken away too soon”, after he was killed in the suburb of Kelvin Grove on Friday.

The man’s body was found at a Hunter Street address about 3pm.

Nicholas Torralba, 29, along with Damian Markovski, 23, and Thomas Appleby, 21, have been charged with murder.

Detectives are calling on residents in Kelvin Grove and Herston to help find evidence as part of their investigation.

They believe one of the accused killers was wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt at the time.

Police also believe a face mask has also been discarded in these areas.

Officers are racing against the clock to find more evidence ahead of rubbish collection day on Tuesday.

“Detectives have reason to believe perpetrators in this matter have discarded their clothing, including footwear, which could be located in these suburbs,” Detective Acting Inspector Chris Toohey told reporters on Monday.

“Police are aware rubbish bin collection occurs tomorrow in these suburbs and appeal for everyone to check bins and yards when putting bins out tonight.”

Residents are urged to look for anything suspicious or items that do not belong to them – including clothes found in bins, yards and garages – and to contact Crime Stoppers if they find something.

“We’ve had SES and police today walking through streets walking through Kelvin Grove and Herston, and [they have had] some success in finding evidence in relation to this matter that we believe are from the scene of the murder,” Det Toohey said.

Police are still not willing to speculate publicly on a motive or the murder weapon, and say it is still the early stages of the investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the online reporting page.
