Chilling note left after teen murdered cousin and aunt before going for ice cream

A 14-year-old girl who "worships death" has been arrested for stabbing her 10-year-old cousin, hitting her aunt around the head with a frying pan, and then stabbing her to death – before calmly heading out to get ice cream.

The teen allegedly left a bloodstained note at the crime scene reading "I was here" with a heart drawn under it.

The gruesome murder took place in the neighbourhood of Esperanca in the northern Brazilian on Monday, January 24 (local time).

The suspect has since said that she has "no regrets" and that she would "do it all again".

One of the victims has been named as 38-year-old Maria Antonieta de Souza Abreu, the suspect's aunt.

Police said the teenager, whose name they have not divulged, allegedly murdered her aunt after first stabbing her 10-year-old cousin with a knife and locking him in a room after having, at first, calmly watched television with him. The young boy reportedly suffered injuries to his neck.

In her statement at the police station, the suspect indicated that she did not want to harm her cousin, who has not been named, but said that he would not allow himself to be locked up and so she allegedly stabbed him in the neck before tying him up with a belt.

The aunt was found with multiple stab wounds and she was also allegedly attacked with a frying pan. The alleged murderer reportedly left a bloodstained note at the crime scene reading "I was here" with a heart drawn under it.

Railson Ferreira, a spokesperson for the investigators, suspects the murder was premeditated because investigators reportedly found a journal allegedly containing a handwritten note penned by the 14-year-old girl. The note allegedly indicates the teen had been planning to murder her aunt.

The teenager reportedly left the house after allegedly murdering her aunt and went out to get ice cream. She subsequently turned herself in at the police headquarters.

Ferreira is quoted as saying: "She spoke with a calmness... She said there was no preparation. About the diary we found, she said it was because she worships death, that she likes it. But I believe there was indeed a plan."

She added: "There were many stab wounds and she repeatedly hit her aunt around the head with the frying pan. The knife was stuck into the victim. I have never seen so much blood in my life."

The police spokesperson also said that the victim had been suffering from dengue fever at the time of her death, which might have made it easier for the 14-year-old girl to kill her alone.

The teenager had reportedly been sleeping at her aunt's house for a few days because her mother was away.
