A Thai construction worker has been arrested over the alleged rape of a Kiwi backpacker after footage emerged of him leading her down an alleyway.
Chilling CCTV captured in the early hours of Saturday morning in Bangkok shows Anat Ouddee turn into an alleyway to find the intoxicated 29-year-old New Zealander sat on a step.
After a brief discussion, the woman gets to her feet and they disappear down the alleyway as he holds her arm.
Thai police allege Ouddee, 34, then raped the woman at the construction site at the end of the alleyway, The Bangkok Post reported.
Police say Ouddee has admitted to trying to rape her, but was unsuccessful in his attempt.
The woman had been trying to make her way back to her hostel on Khao San Road when the alleged attack happened.
Police say the woman was an easy target due to her intoxicated state.
She approached Samran Rat police following the incident and have since prolonged her stay, which was due to end a day before the attack, to testify in the case.
Ouddee remains in police custody for further interrogation.
