The chilling call made by killer's mother after finding woman's body
A mother made a chilling call to triple-0 after she discovered a body in her son’s home.
Tanya Beattie was choked to death by paranoid schizophrenic Ian Dennis Jones, who a judge committed indefinitely to a psychiatric hospital.
Ms Beattie was a loving mother and was strangled to death because her killer mistakenly thought she was a Coffin Cheaters bikie.
Her body was found by her killer’s family in the Bunbury suburb of Eaton, in Western Australia, in November 2016.
After the grisly discovery Jones’ mother made a frantic call to triple-0.
“It’s a f***ing dead body in a bedroom,” the man’s mother told the operator.
On Monday a court cleared Jones of murder, although he admitted to killing Ms Beattie.
After the incident, he splashed around in mud, went to a tavern and a local shopping centre.
He was later found naked, trying to stop traffic on a busy highway.
“They’ve picked my son up out in Boyanup for walking around with no clothes on,” Jones’ mother is heard saying in a phone call.
Jones is a paranoid schizophrenic who befriended Ms Beattie, an alcoholic.
He believed she had been involved in the death of his son.
The judge found Jones not guilty of murder because he was “in such a state of mental impairment” he could not control his actions.
Jones will be kept indefinitely in a Perth psychiatric hospital.
