Child accused of killing four people including two boys aged 3 and 12

A child has been charged with murder after the death of two boys and their parents.

The family were found dead in their Elkview home, in the US state of West Virginia, on Sunday (local time) by a relative who checked on them after a failed attempt to get in touch on Saturday.

Police confirmed the parents and kids, aged three and 12, were dead when they arrived at the scene, while a fifth family member in their teens was found safe elsewhere.

Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford told reporters officers had spoken to the teenage boy about the “violent” incident, describing it as a deliberate act.

“We determined immediately on the deputies’ arrival they (the victims) were all deceased,” Sheriff Rutherford said.

“We’re in the process now of going through the residence collecting evidence. Right now it’s very, very early.”

Limited information could be released given the suspect was under 18.

The nature of the child’s relationship with the victims, reportedly killed by gunshot, was unknown.
