Chick-fil-A Opens ‘First-of-Its-Kind,' Elevated Drive-Thru Restaurant That Delivers Food Using Conveyor Belts
The chicken chain's innovative two-story restaurant has four drive-thru lanes
Chick-fil-A is testing out a new method to get food to customers.
On Aug. 22, the fast food chain opened an innovative restaurant, the latest of several new restaurant concepts the brand has tested this year.
The new, two-story restaurant, located at 2155 Jodeco Road in McDonough, Georgia, does not use its space for dine-in seating. Instead, the drive-thru-only restaurant houses a kitchen twice the size of one typically found in Chick-fil-A locations to service four drive-thru lanes, per a press release. Even better? The amount of lanes can support three times more vehicles than a standard Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Two of the drive-thru lanes are dedicated to picking up online orders placed ahead and the other two are for customers to place orders with Chick-fil-A employees.
The concept uses conveyor belts to get the food from the kitchen to the employees who then deliver meals to customers. Per a press release, the system can get food from the upstairs kitchen down to employees every six seconds.
While just one spot may be testing out this concept, Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country are bringing back some fun menu items.
The fan-favorite banana pudding milkshake is available nationwide after a 13-year hiatus starting Aug. 26.
Made with real banana vanilla ice cream and vanilla wafer cookies, the frozen treat is topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

Banana flavor is coming to more items than just the shake. Chick-fil-A is also rolling out a new banana-frosted coffee that combines the same elements of the milkshake (ice cream, banana and wafer cookies) with cold brew coffee.
The chain's fan-favorite honey pepper pimento chicken sandwich is also back — but with a twist. It's now available with original chicken or spicy chicken and topped with honey, pimento cheese and pickled jalapeños and served on a toasted bun.
