Charles Werb - Snowsailing

Three Australians, Charles Werb, Adrian Manikas and John Ball are setting of today on the adventure of a lifetime.

This world record, a first ever, will be set on the Langjokull Glacier, Iceland between the 29 June – 1 July 2018.

The SWOOSH snowsailer, the first of its kind, has been developed and built in Brisbane by publisher and adventurer Charles Werb.

It has been developed and tested over the past 5 years in Antarctica, Russia and Switzerland and now sets off to introduce a new sport to the world by setting a world record.

Charles Werb is a publisher, adventurer and expedition founder as well as being the publisher of Outer Edge Mag and BLADE Kayak Fishing and Adventure.

Adrian Manikas is the Managing Director, of Impulse Adventures, a Travel consultant and Expedition Leader who uses his company as a vehicle to help get people out and experience more of the world they live in.

John Ball is a farmer and builder who lives in Inverell NSW. An avid, climber, hiker and all round outdoorsman John won the competition to become a member of Team SWOOSH and be a part of this expedition.

All of our expeditions have the ethos of “Leaving No Trace and being environmentally friendly”. To this end we are driven by the wind and all of the power for our cameras, GPS and tracking comes from the sun.

We also realise the benefit of giving back to the community and have set up an Everyday Hero page to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
