Through the Alps, eastern Europe, India and Nepal, and over 11,000 kilometres, it’s been just Charlie and his bike for 102 days.

But on Monday night, when Charlie reached Townsville, someone stole his bike, nicknamed ‘Colin’, from the garage of his hostel.

“You can buy a bike anywhere, but this is MY bike,” the devastated teen said.

“I’ve sweated over it, cried over it, done everything.”

The carbon-framed bike is worth $7000, but Charlie has also lost his passport, camping gear and belongings.

He’s literally been left with the clothes he’s wearing.

He’s making his journey for an African midwives charity, but now Townsville locals are offering him assistance.

They’re rallying to help him find a replacement bike and clothes, as police continue to hunt for Colin.

Until then, Charlie is enjoying the sights.

“It’s been both a setback and quite an enjoyable experience – I’ve been actually able to see Townsville,” he said.
