Charges over alleged attack on Sydney icon
A man has been charged with punching and kicking prominent and beloved Sydney activist Danny Lim during an alleged attack at an inner west train station.
Mr Lim, 79, is well known around Sydney for sporting sandwich boards and holding up signs promoting peace and positive messages.
He was hospitalised after he was allegedly assaulted at Strathfield Railway Station last Friday.
At the time he was campaigning for the Yes vote ahead of next month’s Voice referendum.
It’s alleged that Mr Lim was approached by a 66-year-old man who punched and kicked him.
He was taken by paramedics to Concord Hospital but has since been released.
Police from Auburn Police Area Command launched an investigation.
On Wednesday morning, officers arrested a man at a Homebush West home.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm before being granted conditional bail.
The man is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on October 5.
