Queensland police are trying to find a jogger who may have witnessed a neighbourhood fight on the Gold Coast which left one man dead and another facing criminal charges.

Police charged a 48-year-old man with manslaughter and serious assault after a 60-year-old man died outside a home on Whiting Street, Labrador, on Wednesday morning.

The pair had argued verbally as the older man was leaving his home about 5.15am.

The younger man allegedly knocked his neighbour to the ground before striking him on the head with a broom handle.

The 60-year-old got up and walked a few steps before collapsing.

Emergency services were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.

The younger man was arrested at the scene and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police are still seeking witnesses, in particular a female jogger dressed in black pants and a white or grey shirt who passed the scene around 5.35am.

On Wednesday, Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn told reporters that the argument may have been about the older man feeding wild birds in the neighbourhood.
