Charges laid after body found in street
A 37-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s southwest last week.
Emergency services were notified that a man’s body had been found along Courallie Ave in Homebush West, at about 8pm on Friday.
Upon arrival police found a 44-year-old man on the road who had suffered “extensive head injuries”.
Images of the scene showed specialist police swarming the roadway.
It is understood the victim was dragged along the road during the incident.
Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died and a crime scene was subsequently established.
Police investigations into the incident led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man at about 11.15am on Sunday, following the execution of a search warrant at a home on Fuller St, Chester Hill.
He was later charged with manslaughter, dangerous driving occasioning death – driving in a dangerous manner, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact caused death, and larceny.
He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Monday.
