Brisbane commuters are expected to face massive delays on three train lines after a truck struck a power line on Monday morning.

It’s understood shortly after 5am on Monday, an overheight truck with a trailer hit the overhead power lines at the level crossing on Beams Rd in Carseldine in northern Brisbane.

As a result, services on the Caboolture, Kippa-Ring, and Sunshine Coast lines between the Petrie and Northgate stations have been suspended for travellers in both directions.

“To ensure safety, we were required to immediately de-energise the powerlines,” a Queensland Rail spokesman said.

Queensland Rail has warned commuters of “major delays” across the three train lines and set up replacement buses until services return to normal.

“We have our crews on site working as safely and quickly as possible to get everything back up and running,” the spokesman said.

Queensland Rail cannot confirm when the train schedule will return to normal but has warned commuters of 60-minute delays.

Following the cancellation of services, hundreds of commuters were ushered off their trains to replacement buses.

Online, frustrated travellers complained there were “very limited” buses available for the hundreds of stuck commuters.

“Northgate has hundreds of people waiting for buses,” one person said. “But there are very limited to no buses.”
