CCTV released after young girl indecently assaulted during break-in

Police have released CCTV of a man as they continue to investigate an aggravated break and enter at Kingsford, during which an eight-year-old girl was indecently assaulted.

Police say the child was asleep when the man, believed to be in his 50s, climbed onto her bed at a home in Barker Street, Kingsford, in the city’s east, in the early hours of Monday.

“The man spoke to the girl briefly before indecently assaulting her and leaving through the same window,” a NSW police spokesperson said.

“The girl told her mother and she called police. The child was not physically injured.”

Eastern Beaches Police Area Command officers are investigating the incident and have now released CCTV vision of a man they want to speak to.

He is described as having an Australian or English accent and between 170cm-180cm tall. He was wearing a dark hooded jumper, cargo pants and a hat.

Police will publicly address the media later on Wednesday in a hope to identify this man.

Officers are urging anyone with information or that recognises the man in the vision to contact police immediately by calling 1800 333 000.
