Cat 'just survives' 35-minute cycle after sneaking into washing machine

A cat has somehow survived being trapped in a washing machine for 35 minutes.

Felix got stuck in the home washing machine in the US state of Minnesota last week.

His owner Stefani Carroll-Kirchoff told news station CNN she normally checks the washer and dryer before doing her laundry to make sure her three cats aren’t in the machines.

But in this instance, she forgot and Felix was inside.

Ms Carroll-Kirchoff came back 35 minutes later and noticed her clothes were still wet.

“I heard a little meow, and all of sudden I saw a little white foot go up in the air! I can’t tell you what that was like,” Ms Carroll-Kirchoff told NBC affiliate KARE 11.

She pulled Felix out and he was rushed to a vet.

The cat has lost his vision and suffered pneumonia but he’s now on the mend. It’s possible his sight will return.

Ms Caroll-Kirchoff’s daughter Asha started a GoFundMe page to help the feline.

“Pure personality,” she wrote.

“Vibrant. I've just fallen in love with him, and my entire family has. He is an important member of our family.”

She added her family is heartbroken and scared following Felix’s ordeal.

In Tasmania earlier this year another cat was found in a washing machine after a 30-minute cycle.

Luckily, Poppy was OK and has since recovered.
