Cat found with arrow in neck after sickening animal cruelty attack
DISTRESSING CONTENT WARNING: A cat has been found with an arrow through its neck in a shocking case of animal cruelty in Perth's north.
The cat was found distressed and in pain with a 75-centimetre long arrow plunged through its neck on Sunday night in Ellenbrook.
The animal has survived but the cruel close-range attack has infuriated authorities.
"When the cat was found he was quite distressed and there were maggots around the wound, which would indicate that he was shot a few days earlier," RSPCA's Maree Daniels said.
After surgery to remove the arrow, he was named Beau.
Beau is recovering well at RSPCA and when his wounds heal, he will be able to go up for adoption.
In September last year, also in Ellenbrook, a cat named Skittles was shot with an arrow.

RSPCA officers say it was a different sort of arrow to the one Beau was shot with, but they are investigating if it could be the same shooter.
"Someone has been out there deliberately inflicting pain on animals and it's just not acceptable," Ms Daniels said.
If caught, the offender faces a $50,000 fine or five years in jail.
