Cassandra Thorburn was visibly taken aback when she was asked about ‘finding love again’ after her very public split from TV host Karl Stefanovic.
Appearing on Studio 10, Cassandra was on the breakfast show to discuss her new children’s book, but it wasn’t long before her famous ex-husband and the separation was mentioned.
“You’re a great mum and I know your life is all about them at the moment,” Sarah Harris said during the interview. “But, is the door open to maybe love again?”
Cassandra immediately appears perplexed by the question responding, “What? So do I need to have a man?”
“Do I need to have a man to continue on,” Cassandra continued, while Sarah quickly said, “No, not at all, not at all”.
The pair seemed to laugh it off with Cassandra saying “I’m joking”, even going on to say that you “have to be open to anything coming your way in life”.
But that wasn’t the only awkward moment during the segment with an earlier question from Sarah also not siting well with the mum.
“It would be tricky being mum and dad for your kids,” Sarah asked.
Cassandra however was less than impressed by the suggestion explaining Karl is still a part of their children’s – Jackson, 18, Ava, 13, and River, 11 – lives.
“But you’re not mum and dad. My children still have a dad – of course they do,” the mum hit back.
“I’m not replacing him in that position. He still holds that position.”
It comes after rumours surfaced this week that Today host Karl Stefanovic is facing the axe after his very public marriage breakdown.
A report from the The Sunday Telegraph claimed the 44-year-old is set to be ‘axed’ from the breakfast show and replaced in the new year.
“Top-level sources at Channel 9’s Willoughby studios say the embattled Today host is officially ‘gone’,’ the publication claimed.
Karl broke his silence on Monday and insisted all that matters in life are his “family and friends”.
Posting a photo to his Instagram account of himself with fiancée Jasmine Yarbrough, brother Peter Stefanovic and friend Chris Waller, Karl appeared to brush off any claims he is set to be replaced.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the family and friends I have in this world,” Karl captioned the photo. “It’s all that matters really.
“I’m so proud of them.”
