Carrie Bickmore 'unrecognisable' in 'drab' throwback: 'Really sad'

The Project host Carrie Bickmore has taken a trip down memory lane, sharing a magazine article showing how different she looked in 2008.

The publication also included a photo of Neighbours star Fifi Box from 2005, with the headline reading “From drab to fab: TV’s best makeovers’.

Carrie wrote a caption about the ‘judgemental’ headline, choosing to see the humour in it.

“Who would have thought these ‘drab’ cuties would go on to become ‘fab’ besties,” she quipped on Instagram.

In the throwback snap the radio host has extremely thin eyebrows and appears to be makeup free.

Her pal Fifi is missing her trademark straight blonde locks, and sports a short head of curls instead.

While some of Carrie’s fans said they didn’t recognise her, others were outraged by the headline.

“DRAB?? How bloody rude!! Both beautiful always,” one follower said.

“This is really sad. These ‘drab’ photos are what many real women look like every day...if they’re not full of make-up, with perfectly styled hair, a ton of money spent on clothes, they are simply ‘drab’. Many followers will be seeing themselves in these drab photos,” a second pointed out.

“I don’t think you looked drab back then! You are beautiful then and now!” a third assured the star.

Others chimed in about Carrie’s thin eyebrows, which were all the rage in the 2000s.

“The brows…we’ve all been there Carrie,” admitted a fan.

“Serious question: how did you fix your eyebrows? I over-plucked mine in the 90s and they never grew back,” another asked.

Carrie and Fifi are known for their extremely close friendship, and their daughters often have playdates together.

Fifi gushed about their special friendship last year for Carrie’s 40th birthday.

“You have achieved so much because your tireless dedication and talent is boundless, I can’t wait to see what you achieve in the next 40!” she wrote on Instagram.

“You are a round-the-clock, always there, ride-or-die sister and here’s to another decade of laughs and love my beautiful friend!”
