A man who was caring for an elderly Sydney resident who died from pneumonia in 2017 has been charged with manslaughter.
The 46-year-old man was arrested at a Marrickville home on Wednesday, more than three years after the 76-year-old victim died.
Police say the elderly man was found on the floor of a Marrickville unit in June 2017 and was unable to be revived.
A post-mortem revealed the primary cause of death was pneumonia.
Police will allege in court the younger man was acting as the elderly man's carer at the time, and was grossly negligent in his duty of care.
The man is due to face the Newtown Local Court on Friday.
