Careless courier caught out while delivering package

A NSW man was left in disbelief after he viewed security camera footage of a delivery driver throwing his package, containing a $300 tablet, onto his doorstep from metres away and then leaving.

The Central Coast man shared CCTV images taken from his front porch of last Friday’s Fastway Couriers delivery, saying he waited at home all day because he knew his tablet was arriving and didn’t want to miss it.

Reddit user moeman44 said despite being home to receive the package, the delivery driver didn’t even bother to ring the doorbell.

He claims the driver just “chucked” the expensive package on his doorstep and took off without obtaining a signature.

“At about 2pm I checked the Fastway tracking to see where it was and it said it’d been delivered — nobody was present, so it was left without a signature. Went down to the door and found it on the doorstep,” he wrote.

“He really couldn’t be bothered to walk another 5 steps and ring the doorbell, so he just chucks it.

“I’ve got a ring doorbell, so usually when things are delivered I get a motion at front door notification, as well as the actual doorbell press itself. I didn’t get the motion notification, so I checked on the security system to see how the package actually got delivered.”

The video shows the delivery driver walking up to the house, but instead of ringing the doorbell to see if anyone is home, he stops about two metres from the door and flings the package towards the door.

It lands on the doorstep so the satisfied driver leaves the property.

The customer said the tablet wasn’t broken thanks to some bubble wrap, but feared it could have been stolen had he not been home to collect it and checked the online tracking update.

After watching the video he immediately contacted the delivery company, who advised they would pass it on to their Central Coast team.

“To be fair, it was quite a good throw and landed RIGHT on my doorstep,” the customer added.

After Yahoo7 News brought the video to his attention, Fastway Global Marketing Manager Simon Sproule said the incident would be investigated.

“This is not the level of service we expect from our couriers and the matter is now being addressed,” he said.
