Candace Cameron Bure defends 'distasteful' grope photo

Actress Candace Cameron Bure has refused to apologise for posting a handsy picture with her husband to her Instagram page.

Over the weekend, the Fuller House star shared a photo on her Instagram story of ice hockey player Valeri Bure resting his hand on her breast, alongside the caption: “Sweet and spicy. 24 years and counting”, in reference to the couple’s 24 year wedding anniversary.

Immediately, the photo sparked outrage amongst her 4.5 million followers.

One person commented: “What was the purpose of this post and what did it accomplish? My thirteen year old turned her face away. Why? Because innocence knowns what’s decent and what’s not.”

Another person wrote: “I cannot understand how everyone thinks this is appropriate to post for the world to see. I think there is nothing wrong with a husband touching his wife, of course. But some things are just for private times between spouses.”

Another follower agreed, writing: “Candace, I know you have been married many, may years and you guys love each other. With you being in the spotlight and a Christian, as am I, I think the pic is very distasteful. Yes, he is your husband and he can touch you when and wherever, but why would you publicise it? That’s between you and him not your followers.”

Others disagreed, calling the photo ‘marriage goals’ and calling the photo a “fun” snap which “should be celebrated”.

Candace responded to the outrage, refusing to back down and apologise.

“For all of you Christians that are questioning my post with my husband's hand on my boob — my husband of 24 years — thinking it was inappropriate, it makes me laugh because it's my husband, we have so much fun together,” she shared in a series of videos on her Instagram story.

“He can touch me anytime he wants, and I hope he does. This is what a healthy, good marriage and relationship is all about.

“I'm sorry if it offended you,” she declared, laughing, “I'm actually not sorry.”

Candace even posted the photo on her story again.

“I’m glad we have fun together after so many years,” the former View co-host added. “He can touch me all day long.”

Bure met the retired hockey player in 2004 and proudly shares photos of their romance on social media. They are parents to three children: Natasha, 22, Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18.

The self-proclaimed “Queen of Christmas” is no social media novice. While quarantining with her children, Bure started creating content on TikTok as well as Instagram’s recently launched Reels. She told Yahoo Entertainment it became “a connection point” with her kids.

“That’s such a massive part of most of our kids’ lives, social media. So as a parent you can join in the fun, you can take the embarrassing route, like embarrassing your children if you want,” she shared. “Sometimes that doesn’t always go over well. It’s a fun way to connect.”
