Can you spot the embarrassing mistake on this Brisbane bus sticker?

A Queensland council has been left red-faced after a commuter spotted a typo on a bus ride, with many cringing over the mistake.

About 100 buses have been driving around Brisbane carrying a sticker advising passengers that smoking and the consumption of food and drinks is prohibited.

But the caution contained an embarrassing blunder.

It appears someone at the Brisbane City Council failed to proof-read the message properly, because the word “consumption” went to print spelled “comsumption”, with the mistake not sitting well with Brisbane commuters.

Pictures of the error were shared to Reddit on Tuesday, causing many to question how such an oversight was missed.

“Someone had one job…” one person wrote.

Another added: “Typos in signs bug me. There’s one in the Queen St Mall advertising ‘spay on tans’. I guess it passed spellcheck?”

That is horrifying. My eyes,” a third commented.

A council spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia it was aware of the “misspelled word” on an information sticker displayed on less than 100 of Brisbane’s fleet of 1,200 buses.

“An audit is underway and Council will ensure all stickers identified with a misspelled word are replaced by the end of the week,” the spokesperson added.
