'Can I tell you something?' Boy's innocent call to police goes viral

A little boy has received a visit from police after calling them with a serious question.

The four-year-old, from Wellington in New Zealand, is asked in audio shared by police what his emergency is.

The problem: he’s unsure if his toys are cool.

“Hi,” he says, followed by a short pause.

“Police lady?”

“Yes,” the dispatcher asks, switching to a friendlier, singsong tone. “What’s going on?”

“Um, can I tell you something?” the boy asks, and after being told he can, he says “I’ve got some toys for you.”

“You’ve got some toys for me?” says the dispatcher.

“Yep. Come over and see them,” the boy replies.

A man then gets on the phone confirming the call was a mistake, saying the boy had been helping out while his mother was sick.

A police dispatch call then goes out, giving the address: “There is a four-year-old there who is wanting to show police his toys, over.”

“Yeah, I’m one-up, I’ll attend to,” responds an officer.

The officer, identified as Constable Kurt, visited the boy to inspect his toys. He also reminded the little fellow about how the emergency line is just for that — emergencies.

Thankfully, Constable Kurt was able to confirm: “He did have cool toys”.

New Zealand Police shared the audio on Facebook claiming it was “too cute” not to.

The clip quickly clocked up more than a million views and 45,000 likes.
