How you can get IKEA furniture for cheaper
IKEA has launched a furniture take-back service and it could mean you pay much less for your next piece of furniture.
The store added the new policy exclusively for Tempe in Sydney, allowing customers to not only return old items but buy second-hand furniture at a fraction of the price.
A Hemnes bookcase, which retails for $199, sold for $80, according to News Corp.
Customers need to fill out a form online and provide five photos.
“Once we view your photos, if the products are eligible for the Furniture Take-Back service we will contact you with a purchase price quote,” the terms and conditions read.
“All quotes are subject to a physical inspection of the products by IKEA staff and we do not agree to purchase your products until they have been inspected by staff at IKEA Tempe.”

Non-IKEA products, lighting, textiles, kitchen bench tops, cabinets and fronts, outdoor furniture, mattresses and bed textiles can’t be exchanged.
Whoever returns the items will receive a discount voucher worth up to $28.90 valid for 90 days.
Sustainability manager Kate Ringvall told News Corp the idea came to fruition after a colleague saw “perfectly good IKEA furniture” going to waste on kerbside clean-up days.
The trial will run until December 4.
