Camper missing after making emergency call to family

The search is on for a man missing for more than a week in bushland near Nimbin in the far north of NSW after he made an emergency call to his relatives.

Damien Roadley, 38, left for an overnight camping trip at the top of Blue Knob Mountain on about 3.30pm on Wednesday last week.

Mr Roadley contacted relatives on his mobile phone just before 7pm the same day.

He was concerned about a campfire which had become out of control, police said.

The 38-year-old didn’t return home the following day and was reported missing. A search conducted found several items including camping equipment and food.

Agencies including the police dog squad, Westpac Helicopter, SES and the Volunteer Rescue Association are involved in the ongoing search.

Mr Roadley was wearing a grey t-shirt, green hoodie, a pair of jeans and hiking boots when he disappeared.
