Unwelcome hairy hitchhikers terrify fellow motorists

Two huge spiders have been filmed hitching a ride on the back of a car in Adelaide, frightening those following in its path.

The video posted on the S**t Adelaide Instagram page shows a white Kia Rio moving along a busy road, while two huge spiders cling to opposite sides of the vehicle.

Social media users were terrified at the thought of the eight-legged insects climbing all over the vehicle, however it was not clear if the animals were real or fake.

Some suggested the spiders were purposely stuck to the vehicle in a plight for fame.

“Yeah, placing two fake spiders on your car for fame,” someone said.

Another added, “Okay this one has gotta be fake surely”.

WA hitchhiking spiders seem to be gaining popularity. In March another video was posted of a huge spider crawling into the boot of a car while stopped at traffic lights.

The video of the Adelaide car and its spiders has been viewed by almost 80,000 people and the majority seem relieved they weren’t behind the wheel of the car.

“It's the apocalypse, the end is coming, spiders are evil geniuses and they are uprising, spiders are going to rule the world!” one person wrote.

“Straight to the dealership for a trade in!” a woman suggested.

Another person said the car was now a write-off.

“There’s no coming back from that, just crash it and burn,”

Yahoo News has been unable to confirm if the pair of hitchhikers in the video were in fact the real deal or just very realistic stunt spiders.

But for the drivers sake, we hope the creepy-crawlies ditched their ride at the the next red light.
