A Melbourne cab driver has suffered a broken nose, lost several teeth and received a concussion after he was attacked by a pack of teens, one as young as 13.
Akbar Ali picked up four teenagers from Preston McDonald’s car park who needed a ride to Epping Road, Epping.
He said he felt uneasy when they redirected him down Bridge Inn Road.
The driver then pulled over and asked for his $45 payment.
“So when they jumped out of the cab I also jumped out and asked for my money,” he said.
“Two girls and a guy started punching me and kicking me.”
Ali said the group made racist remarks as they bashed him.
“’You black people come here and why are you not going back to your countries and why are you here?’” the cabby recalled.
The four teenagers, two girls aged 17 and 16, and two boys aged 15 and 13, were all arrested and face a number of assault related charges.
