A bus driver has suffered a medical episode and crashed into a house in the Illawarra region, with one person suffering injuries.

The incident occurred on Staff Road at Cordeaux Heights on Monday morning.

The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode, lost control of the bus and crashed into a power pole and house.

Fire and Rescue NSW were working to stabilise the two-storey home.

One person - a woman in her 50s - received a minor head injury in the incident and was treated by paramedics.

The male bus driver in his 60s was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

"Our crews arrived to quite a bit of destruction with a number of bins, parked cars and a home damaged by a bus ... it must have been bin night, it made quite the mess," NSW Ambulance Inspector Norm Rees said in a statement.

"One of these people sustained a head injury when the bus started to roll. Thankfully it was minor and she was treated at the scene.

"It's very lucky that nobody was more seriously injured."
