Burnley and Manchester City lock horns in an all-Premier League Carabao Cup tie tonight.

Pep Guardiola's side have won this competition in each of the last three seasons and progressed through to the fourth round after a young side narrowly defeated Championship Bournemouth 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium last week.

Since then, City were embarrassed 5-2 at home by Leicester in the Premier League and will be hoping to avoid another upset when they travel to Turf Moor.

Burnley's route to round four saw them edge past Sheffield United on penalties before a 2-0 win at Millwall that was sandwiched between top-flight defeats at the hands of Leicester and Southampton.

A cup scalp would certainly help improve Sean Dyche's mood following a difficult league start in 2020-21.

Date, time and venue

Burnley vs Manchester City is scheduled for a 7pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, September 30.

This match will be played behind closed doors at Turf Moor with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

How to watch

Live stream: The match will not be televised live in the UK, but fans will still be able to watch via the carabaocup.live website.

Match passes cost £10.

Team news

Both of these sides are dealing with numerous injury problems during the early stages of the season.

Burnley were without seven senior players against Southampton, with James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Robbie Brady, Jay Rodriguez, Jack Cork, Ashley Barnes and Johann Berg Gudmundsson all sidelined as Dyche - who only possesses a small squad - reiterated the need for new recruits.

City obviously have a far greater depth of talent to call upon, though Guardiola remains without the services of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo, while John Stones was not fit enough to make the squad against Leicester.

He is likely to once again call upon several youngsters for this tie, with the likes of Zack Steffen, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adrian Bernabe, Tommy Doyle and Liam Delap - son of Rory Delap - all starting against Bournemouth and the latter scoring on his senior debut.

Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Manchester City

Both of these managers could do without this game and will be looking forward to the forthcoming October international break, when they will hope to see their injury-hit squads nursed back to health.

City's youngsters impressed against Bournemouth, but this is a tougher test away from home against an established Premier League outfit - albeit one whose resources are being stretched to the limit at the moment.

However, they will no doubt be eager to take the opportunity to showcase their talents once again and prove they are of the required standard to make the grade. Away win.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Of 104 previous meetings between these two sides, City have won 49. Burnley have picked up 30 wins to go along with 25 draws.

However, only one of those Burnley wins has come in the last 25 matches - a 1-0 triumph at Turf Moor back in March 2015.

City have won all of the last five, scoring 20 goals in the process. That run includes 5-0 and 4-1 thrashings in the Premier League last season.
