Brother finds pregnant 14-year-old girl's body in Argentine wasteland

A missing pregnant teenager has been found dead by her brother who looked for her for two days until he found her body in a wasteland.

The tragic discovery of the body of 14-year-old Rocio Magali Vera, who was two months’ pregnant, was made in the city of Reconquista, in the northern Argentine province of Santa Fe.

According to local newspaper El Litoral, the teen had been reported missing by her mother after which her brother, identified as Miguel Angel, began to search for her.

“The body of the teenage girl has been found dead, her brother located her and notified police personnel who were passing by,” state prosecutor Alejandro Rodriguez said in a statement.

“We went to the place where the body was found, about 50 metres inside a wasteland.”

The prosecutor went on to say the body shows signs of having suffered violence from a third party, but, until they have the results of the autopsy, they cannot say for sure.

“Her brother found her because he was looking for her since she went missing two days ago, independently of the fact he knew she was already being searched for,” Mr Rodriguez said.

"We have some clues about the participation of older and younger people. At this moment a minor has been apprehended, we presume with a high degree of probability that more people may be involved."

The prosecutor went on to say Rocio's mother reported her missing after her daughter went with her boyfriend, identified only as MV, to her father's house.

Mr Rodriguez said Rocio's father called the teen’s mother to tell her Rocio went to a house with a 30-year-old individual, identified only as EG, where they always got together.

Police continue to investigate the case.
