Griggs also starred as Ivanka in the musical, Once, and has appeared twice on Saturday Night Live in 2017 in James Franco and Kumail Nanjiani episodes.

Tributes poured in for the teen star on social media with fellow teen star Eliza Holland Madore, who also played the role of Ivanka in Once, revealing her devastation on Instagram.

"I am deeply saddened by the sudden loss of one of my Ivanka sisters," she wrote.

"Laurel – you were always smiling and always made other people laugh. I'm so incredibly grateful I got to know you. You will never be forgotten, and we will never stop loving you.

“Everybody in the Once Family is going to keep you alive through us. R.I.P. My heart goes out to her family.”
