Teen, 15, raped in hotel sauna in 'targeted holiday attack'
A British teenager on holiday in Majorica in the Spanish islands has been raped in a sauna in the hotel where her family was staying.
The 15-year-old was attacked in the hotel spa on Monday afternoon at 4pm (local time) in an unnamed location in the southern town of Llucmajor.
The aggressor entered the sauna where the girl was on her own and assaulted her.
She alerted staff at the hotel immediately after the attack took place and was taken to Son Llatzer hospital in Palma, the capital of the island.
Local police are working on the theory that the girl was targeted by the attacker before he raped her.
A local newspaper has said that the rapist has already been identified from CCTV footage gathered from the hotel.
Local newspaper Ultima Hora said the girl told police that she did not know the attacker nor recognised him from her time on the island.
Initially the police believed that the man could have been another tourist, but after consulting the CCTV footage this possibility was dismissed.
When contacted by Yahoo, a civil guard spokesperson confirmed that an investigation was ongoing, but would not provide further details.
